La Antigua is a World Heritage site, renowned for its climate, its culture, its beauty, its Spanish Language Schools and its amenities for visitors. As a town, it is small; easily walkable from one end to the other in a half hour. It enjoys a beautiful central plaza, flanked on one side by The Cathedral, on another by the Palace of the Captains, which is currently under reconstruction, both of which date to the 16th Century. It’s fountain, in the center of the park, is considered to be the most beautiful and unique of the New World. Elegant as well as inexpensive hotels and restaurants abound. Tours of history and industry are easily available and tour companies offer an endless number of opportunities to visit every corner of the country as well as a volcano or two! Spanish Schools, using the one-on-one teaching method are the best in the world. As a visitor, volunteer or resident, you will not go wrong visiting and patronizing the sponsors of Guatemala NGO Network |
